St. Nicholas
DAY FOURWe woke up, had traditional english breakfast at Swandown and had fun scraping ice off our car! We drove to Roman bath where we saw this bath that the Romans created for themselves back in 700 A.C. i think. It was really ingenius as they had a supply of hot water running from a nearby hot spring flowing right into the bath. The bath isn't really as hot as it looks, its only 47 degrees celcius. Its steaming only because of the awfully cold weather. The water is really dirty though, after all these years, all thanks to the abundant sunlight which resulted in the rapid growth of algae, leading to eutrophication.

Yes, I tied my hair in two ponytails in an attempt to cover my poor freezing ears :D

After that, we drove all the way to one of the eight wonders of the world (In case you're wondering what the eighth wonder is, you've been living on the wrong planet. The eighth wonder is me of course, well duh :D) Yes, we went to see the STONEHENGE! It was smaller than I imagined actually, but then again I have very high expectations.

Aww this was taken at sunset at around 4pm. Pretty ain't it?
After stonehenge, we headed for the town of canterbury. So we programmed canterbury into my father's GPS navigation system and chose a lane at random. We all thought magnolia lane sounded like something you would find near the city so we started off. We neared canterbury at 7pm and the skies were real dark, as if it was midnight. To top it off, the roads were not lighted so the only source of light was from our car's frontlights. Suddenly, the GPS system told us to turn right, out of the highway and into a little lane. We thought maybe canterbury was a small town so the road leading into it is small and narrow too, so we turned right in. For twenty minutes, we travelled on the rocky narrow lane designed for only ONE car to drive through and didn't see a single soul. We didn't see any cottages, any farms nor any other vehicles. As we went along, the road started narrowing and we felt as if the trees at the sides of the roads were closing in on us. It was really terrifying, like a horror movie. The road just kept narrowing and the trees started growing taller such that they started to cover the night sky above us. That's it, we were trapped. Thank goodness the road didn't end up in a dead end whew. Finally, we turned into a slightly wider road and found ourselves surrounded by farms. There were still no streetlights but at least we were not alone anymore. We realised we were in the rural outskirts of the town of canterbury. The GPS system had led us to magnolia lane, only that magnolia lane was not near the city centre like we had assumed, it was a road in the rural areas of the town. We managed to ask some people and found our way to the city centre. There, we managed to find a really nice supposedly five star hotel for a cheap rate of only 130pounds per night (S$270). We ate at a thai food restaurant(it was the only restaurant open besides some expensive chinese restaurants)at 8pm. It was a really great hotel so we had a good sleep and bath.

My sister stole the limelight hmph.

The car park, our car is the one in the foreground (:
